Prayer Request Update and Other Stuff
I’d like to thank everyone who pitched in to make the “prayer chain” for Steve Dillard’s brother Glenn (see previous post) a success. Glenn went to meet the Lord later in the week, the funeral was held Friday, I think. A couple of clarifications: My grandmother had given me the impression that Glenn had two sons; she had said, “there is just the two boys.” She wanted me to make clear that she meant there was just Steve and Glenn as siblings.
More importantly, I have been told that the preacher who did the funeral let everyone know that Glenn had indeed given his life to Jesus. Let us continue to pray that it is so, and that this revelation is the answer to our prayer! Now we can pray that Steve will take great comfort in knowing that he will celebrate with Glenn at the Great Feast one day. Steve has told us that he has taken great comfort in knowing you have been praying for him and his family. So I extend thanks to you in his stead!
Grace is doing well! She had her first shots yesterday, and screamed bloody murder for a couple of minutes. She likes to eat and sleep and poop. She also likes keeping Mommy and Daddy up at night. We have transitioned from boob-feeding to the bottle so Tricia can take regular breaks instead of having to get up and whip it out in the middle of the night. That means I get to do some feedings now! We’ve learned quickly that we don’t like formula — it causes a lot of fussiness and spit-up from the gas. Why, just the other day I changed a shirt 3 times before I went to work because Grace kept spitting up on it! We are exploring boob-pump options but are not holding our breath on it.
Grace now weighs a full pound more than when she was born — 9 lb 14 oz! The doctor said the next visit she should be 12 pounds. Egad.
PURITAN READING CHALLENGE
February was not a good month for me reading-wise. Grace took up much of the time I would have spent reading; as a result I am as of right now 3 chapters from the end of The Mystery of Providence. I wanted to finish it up last weekend but my Dad and sister came up for the weekend, and Grace had one of those nights where she would not be satisfied. That meant I got basically no sleep. I crashed hard today after coming home from work. But I am going to try and read through those last 3 chapters tomorrow and get started on the next book, The Godly Man’s Picture, this coming weekend. I’ll try to put up a review and profile of Thomas Watson by then as well.
You might remember that I moved out of the training department at UPS to work in the operation. I tell you, I really like working in the operation. Less paper to push, you pretty much know what has to get done and when each night, and you get to work with your people daily in an ongoing basis instead of a revolving door of employees each week. And you feel like you have a more direct impact on customer service. So if you have been getting your books and stuff from UPS early or on time, drop me a note and I’ll congratulate my employees on their hard work. If your stuff is late, I didn’t sort it. Go blame Timmy ;-)
Also, my wife will start looking for work once again this month. You might remember I said my salary at church had been halved. That means Tricia has to go back to work if we want to be able to do more than just pay bills. I would love for her to go back to work tomorrow; it would be a big ease on our wallets and conscience. And not only that, we would be able to start tithing regularly again. Please pray that God will provide.
We will definitely be moving when our lease is up at the end of April. We already have an apartment secured; but in the meantime we are keeping an eye out for other opportunities. We’ve been looking at houses for rent; and while we may not do that at all (the chances are small), we are open to God’s leading in this area. A house would be more personally advantageous but at this time is not exactly financially feasible. It would have to be a very good deal in order for us to rent a house at this time. But we shall see.
Well, I need to get a move on, I have to go to work. I will leave you with proof that I am raising Grace God’s way:
And we all know God is a Tennessee Volunteer, right? Right?
